Dvořák - Cello Concerto
Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade
Welcome to our opening concert, and what a celebration of humanity we have for you all!
We begin with a joint world première performance of Symphony of Saints by Norwegian composer, Martin Romberg. Commissioned by Mandy Morrell for the Scarborough and
Misbourne Symphony Orchestras, this symphonic poem in four movements for soprano and orchestra is based on ancient Gaelic texts
We are delighted to welcome back Christina Waldock to perform Dvořák’s glorious Cello Concerto. Christina wowed us all with her mesmerising performance of Honegger’s Cello Concerto in 2018. Her reading of the Dvořák tonight will enthral us all
We close with one of the most popular and spectacular orchestral showpieces of all time, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. Come and listen to this hauntingly beautiful account of Sultana Scheherazade’s thousand and one nights of story-telling.
