Holly Clark - trumpet
Stravinsky - Danses Concertantes
Hummel - Trumpet Concerto
Borodin - Symphony No.2
Join us for an evening of sparkling talent. Tonight we invite school students, especially those studying GCSE and A level music, to our concert, which looks at the role of dance in classical music
We open with a favourite work of our Music Director, Stravinsky’s Danses Concertantes. Completed in 1942, this is a neo-classical work scored for chamber orchestra and features many of our talented principals.
Our concerto tonight is Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in Eb. Holly Clark joins us to perform one of the most popular concertos in the trumpet repertoire. Holly is a final year student at the Royal Academy of Music and has won many prizes and awards. She is a huge talent, so this is a performance not to be missed.
We close with Borodin’s Symphony No.2. Borodin has been a great
favourite of many choreographers and his 2nd symphony, possibly his
most popular, joins the list of his works that have been turned into
ballets.
