lsata Kanneh-Mason piano

fv1osolov - The Iron Foundry
Rachmaninov - Piano Concerto No.2.
Mussorgsky· Pictures at an Exhibition

Our final concert opens with a work little known in this country - Mosolov's The Iron Foundry. Written in 1926/7, it became his most famous composition. Moso!ov uses the orchestra to create machine-like sounds by using short overlapping phrases, vividly imitating the workings of a factory.

Our soloist is the young pianist lsata Kanneh-Mason. Since reaching the piano category final of BBC Young Musician in 2014, lsata has enjoyed a successful and increasingly busy concert career. She will be performing perhaps the most popular piano concerto in the repertoire, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.N.9
