We are a friendly crowd of people who love making music together.

We spend hours every week, not only rehearsing, but also practising individually to ensure we make our concerts as musically rewarding as possible for both us and our audience.

We have around 50 regular players in the orchestra who come from a wide area in North and East Yorkshire. Some players travel long distances to attend rehearsals.

Our ever-growing audiences seem to enjoy our enthusiastic music-making, as well as our innovative and varied programme building, combining lesser known works with popular favourites.

We have a policy of encouraging young people to discover real music; our student players do not have to pay a membership subscription and tickets to our concerts are free to children and full-time students.
