The Scarborough Symphony Orchestra is made up of nearly 70 players, between them giving in excess of 6,000 hours of their time every year, preparing public performances.

They come from as far afield as Beverley, York
& Ampleforth. Rehearsals have an average attendance of about 95% and we currently present 4 public concerts per season.

We have around 50 regular players in the orchestra who come from a wide area in North and East Yorkshire. Some players travel long distances to attend rehearsals.

Our ever-growing audiences seem to enjoy our enthusiastic music-making, as well as our innovative and varied programme building, combining lesser known works with popular favourites.

20% of the seats are sold in advance to holders of Season Tickets. We have a policy of encouraging young people to discover real music; student players do not have to pay a membership subscription and tickets to our concerts are free to children and full-time students.
